Theatre of Chocolate

Walkers Theatre of Chocolate

The theatre is located on the ground floor through the shop. Here you have the opportunity to watch our award-winning chocolate being made. All the chocolate goodies sold in the shop are produced here in our chocolate workshop. At various times during the day you can see one of our chocolatiers at work.

When chocolate is not being made, a short 10-minute film shows you the whole chocolate-making process. So in fact our chocolates could not be fresher - as they have travelled only 10 feet.

In the theatre area you can also learn where chocolate is grown and produced, and how it is manufactured. For example, did you know that the cocoa pod actually grows on the tree trunk and not on the branches like most fruit? Or that a cocoa pod can grow as long as 35cm and can weigh up to 1Kg?

This area also includes a collection of vintage and modern chocolate moulds, a hot chocolate display and a forever increasing collection of chocolate mugs and sweet tins.

New Chocolate Man exhibit

We have a new exhibit in the theatre of chocolate. He is a life size chocolate man and stands next to the giant chocolate buttons, big truffle and the monster chocolate rabbit.

The chocolate man was made by covering a fibre glass frame with modeling chocolate, this was then coated with 3 coats of tempered chocolate and one coat of varnish, this stops him from melting in the summer.

The fibre glass frame had to be used to support the chocolate and keep him upright.... and without the varnish he would be edible!
